Memory Training is Draperfect's careful shaping process for giving drapery the ability to hold its pleats and form over time. Through controlled steaming, pressing, and setting, each panel is guided into a consistent pleat rhythm that complements the natural character of the fabric — ensuring a polished, tailored appearance whether open or closed.
With daily opening and closing, and shifts in humidity, traditional drapery can gradually relax, wrinkle, or flare at the hem, losing the crisp, just-installed look that defines a beautifully finished room. Memory Training addresses this at the source: rather than relying on the fabric alone to hold its shape, each panel is trained to retain it.
The result is a cleaner vertical profile, more uniform folds, and easier everyday upkeep — a refined finish, shaped to last.
What Is Memory Training?

The Difference: Our Standard vs. Traditional Drapes
PLEAT CONSISTENCY
Crisp, uniform folds hold their rhythm.
Memory Training helps the drape maintain neat pleats and a consistent finished appearance over time.
PLEAT CONSISTENCY
Pleats can relax and become less uniform.
Without a trained memory, everyday movement and environmental conditions can leave the finished folds looking less consistent.
DRAPE PROFILE
A cleaner vertical line from header to floor.
The trained silhouette is designed to reduce the flare-out effect at the bottom and keep the profile feeling tailored.
DRAPE PROFILE
The lower edge can fan outward over time.
Traditional drapery may lose its straight vertical profile, creating a softer and less tailored silhouette at the floor.
MAINTENANCE
Less time spent manually correcting the folds.
Memory-shaped drapes are designed to return to their intended form with minimal effort after shipping or light cleaning.
MAINTENANCE
The silhouette may need more hands-on reshaping.
Traditional drapes can require more frequent steaming, ironing, or manual pleat adjustment to restore a polished look.
The Benefits of "Trained" Drapery
How We Shape Perfection
STEP 01
Preparation
Custom molds are prepared specifically for your curtain style and dimensions.
STEP 02
Precision Molding
Each panel is carefully hand-pleated and placed into custom-engineered molds to ensure mathematical symmetry.
STEP 03
High-Heat Setting
The rack is moved into the Memory Training Steamer where the process is set to run for two hours at a high temperature.
STEP 04
Quality Assurance
Every panel is inspected for vertical alignment and fold consistency before being carefully packaged for delivery.
FAQS
Will the memory shape last after washing?
Yes. Because the fibers are set at a molecular level during the high-heat process, the pleats are designed to withstand gentle washing or professional dry cleaning. We recommend following our specific care guide to maximize the lifespan of the shaping.
Is there any panel size limitation for memory training
Width ≤ 236 inches, Height ≤ 145 inches or Width ≤ 160 inches, Height ≤ 255 inches
Please ensure your custom size falls within one of the above ranges. If your size exceeds these limits, contact customer service to confirm availability of memory-training treatment.
Is this treatment suitable for all fabrics?
While we apply this technology to as many products as possible, some extremely delicate or specialized synthetic materials may not be suitable for high-heat treatment. If a fabric is compatible, you can be sure it has been shaped to perfection.
Are there any header styles not supporting memory training?
In terms of hanging header designs, the ripple fold, rod pocket, and grommet headers do not support memory training. Since those styles are designed to create and maintain their intended appearance through their construction and method of attachment, memory training is redundant.
How to maintain curtains' memory training?
Memory training will produce different effects depending on the fabric. Creases may be caused by logistics or long-term storage in the packaging bag. It is recommended to open the package and hang the curtains in time, and iron the curtains if necessary.
